A research project about World War I and the lasting effects it has had on Islington residents. Events and activities have included:
- Archive training delivered by Gateways to the First World War
- Workshops by Islington Local History centre on research skills and archive access
- Training on organising an exhibition
- Training on photography
The research is part of Stepping Stone4's integration projects.
Stepping Stone4 was established in 2012 by a group of East African women following recommendations of a community research report. The report outlined exclusion and the difficulties Swahili Speaking Women face in accessing health services and training opportunities in the London borough of Islington.
Gateways to the First World War supported Stepping Stone4's application to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The centre is providing training around archive research and creating exhibitions.
